3-year-old killed, 3 others injured in crash after CT pursuit

A teen driver fleeing from Waterbury police is accused of killing a 3-year-old and injuring several others after crashing his auto at an intersection, state police said.

State police say Waterbury officers in an unmarked vehicle tried to stop the unidentified 18-year-old Tuesday afternoon.

The two females and two children were on the sidewalk when the auto drove up onto it, hitting them.

Several cars and pedestrians were involved and people were transported to St. Mary's Hospital and Waterbury Hospital, state troopers said.

A 3-year-old was killed and a second child, who is believed to be 5 or 6 years old, was taken to the hospital with injuries.

Lee fled the scene of the crash but was later taken into custody.

Once police conclude their investigation and accident reconstruction, utility crews will then start repairing damage to the lines and replacing the pole. State Police Western District Major Crime is assisting in the investigation.
