8% of Australians are watching Netflix in a public toilet

Data from a global Netflix survey, of 1900 Australian respondents, found a surprising number of us are watching Netflix content in a public toilet.

These addictive behaviours extend beyond the bathroom, with 34 per cent of Australians using Netflix on their daily commute, and 32 per cent tuning in while at a café or restaurant. But if the worst thing someone catches you watching is "Stranger Things", you're life isn't going too bad.

59% of Aussies watch Netflix in Public, or anywhere out of home. While 44 percent of on-the-go bingers have caught someone looking over their shoulder and watching, 11 percent of those over-the-shoulder watchers reported being spoiled by peeking at somebody else's screen.

With 109 million-plus Netflix subscribers worldwide, that would mean almost 13 million people have made it a habit of binge-watching and flushing.

Netflix said access to movies and TV shows ranks among the top five travel essentials for subscribers, along with Wi-Fi presence (48 percent), a comfortable seat (49 percent), a charger (41 percent) and food (37 percent).
