Allegations concerning Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmavati' outlandish: Abhishek Manu Singhvi

The argument was that this committee can determine whether the film contained any scenes that lowered the dignity of Rani/Sati Padmavati.

As the release date of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming movie Padmavati is nearing, Jaipur Royals has claimed that Bhansali productions has gone back on its word of first showing the film to them before releasing.

Mumbai (Maharashtra), November 10: Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chief Prasoon Joshi has rejected one of its advisory panel members" statement against "Padmavati' director Sanjay Leela Bhansali that said the filmmaker should be tried for treason.

He is aiming for "a wide release" for the movie after securing the censor certification. A division bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Abdul Moin on Thursday said the petitioner has another forum, CBFC, where he could appeal for his grievance. The film will release on December 1.

"Modalities in this direction will be worked out soon".

"When a film is made with a hero (Alauddin Khilji) in that character, certain portions are sad and disappointing to watch". To add fuel to the fire, Shahid Kapoor, who is playing Rawal Ratan Singh in the film, is reportedly upset with the makers for highlighting and giving more preference to Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.

Padmavati which has been in trouble as many elements are trying to stay its release, the Supreme Court earlier in the day had dismissed the petition against the release of the film.

Various groups, a lot of them from the Rajput community, have accused Bhansali of "distorting" historical facts in the film. On Wednesday, Bhansali had issued a video clarifying that the film will not hurt Rani Padmavati's image or Rajput pride in anyway but to no avail.
