Bette Midler Wants an Apology from Geraldo Rivera

"I feel like this video was a gift from the universe to me". Initially laughing it off by saying his "penis went to his head", Midler got serious and said that she was assaulted by Rivera and a producer when she first met him. He then sought to make amends for his comments by making a series of tweets about sexual harassment in the workplace, which included creating his own guidelines for when allegations of sexual misconduct should be taken seriously.

In the clip, Midler hesitates in recounting what she alleges happened with Rivera during his visit to interview her in the early 1970s, saying it will get her in trouble. "They pushed me into my bathroom, they broke two poppers and pushed them under my nose and proceeded to grope me".

Shortly after Matt Lauer was sacked from NBC News after multiple allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct, Rivera took to Twitter to seemingly defend Lauer from the accusations while also insinuating that the accusers were untrustworthy. "News is a flirty business & it seems like (the) current epidemic of #SexHarassmentAllegations may be criminalizing courtship (and) conflating it (with) predation".

Since the interview gained media attention, Midler, now 71, took to Twitter to share the clip with her followers on November 30, writing, "Tomorrow is my birthday". By Wednesday night, the Fox News contributor walked back his comments. However, when interviewed by Barbara Walters, Midler said the experience wasn't consensual.

At the time, Rivera had released a "tell-all" book titled, Exposing Myself (natch).

Keillor, the former host of Prairie Home Companion, was also fired on Wednesday following an allegation of inappropriate behavior, coming after he wrote an op-ed defending Minnesota Sen. According to excerpts published by the Washington Post at the time, Rivera wrote, "We were in the bathroom, preparing for the interview, and at some point I put my hands on her breasts".

Midler has not yet commented on the footage, People reported. "I don't think it's that slanderous a statement to say that somebody made love to me 15 years ago". "He was unseemly", Midler revealed to Walters. "He was unseemly. His behavior was unseemly".
