Beyonce is Forbes' highest paid woman in music

It's no secret that it's been a stellar year for performers like Beyoncé, Adele, and Taylor Swift.

Beyonce's earnings were boosted by her Formation world tour a year ago, which Forbes says grossed $US250 million ($NZ367 million).

It shouldn't come as much of a surprise, but Beyonce is once again the highest paid woman in the music industry this year.

The R&B singer earned some 105 million dollars from record sales and from her "Formation" concert tour, according to Forbes.

Celine Dion and Jennifer Lopez round out the top five with $42 million (£31.7 million) and $38 million (£28.7 million), respectively. Holding the accolade for 2017's second highest-paid female musician is Adele. Beyoncé: $105 million 2.

Adele also had one heck of a year as she set out on what may be her last tour for quite a while - though she can likely afford to take time off with the estimated $69 million she earned in 2017.

Taylor Swift came in third with $44 million.

Dolly Parton is a surprising sixth. Britney Spears: $34 million 9. Barbra Streisand comes in at No. 10 with $30 million.

Forbes complied the list based on pretax income during the yearlong period. It includes information from Nielsen SoundScan, Pollstar, and the RIAA, as well as interviews with industry insiders, but it does not include fees taken from agents, managers and lawyers.
