Call of Duty: WWII is getting some much needed updates

Sledgehammer has released a blog post addressing various complaints that fans have about Call of Duty: WWII's server issues promising a return to normality.

Despite doing well commercially, Call of Duty WW 2 has faced many online issues in regards to connectivity and disconnections. This affected server performance across the board and Sledgehammer is well aware of the problem. P2P servers are supposed to alleviate the issue in the near-term. They say "the game is stable", but are aiming to return to dedicated servers as their highest priority.

Dedicated servers, meanwhile, are being tested in the USA ahead of a full roll out. This level of data and diagnostics is helping us work toward a permanent solution as quickly as possible.

Dedicated servers will be tested in the United States today. However, we also know we've had issues, there's frustration. Everyone was getting 2XP since 11/3 and up until we made the playlist change late Thursday night, which effectively launched 3XP.

"We also want to reinforce our commitment to PC fans", the post adds. But we get it, headquarters is best enjoyed with a thriving, fully populated social community interacting together. So hang in there while we address the most pressing concerns first. We have the next PC Title Update ready to go, but we believe we need to work through the issues noted above first - many of which also affect PC players. No reason to release a patch that will just make things worse. Here's our Call of Duty: WW2 PC review.

Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg explained, while speaking to Newsweek, that Activision wanted to return to the WWII focus of the series's beginning, despite Sledgehammer wanting to make a sequel to the popular and well-received Advanced Warfare. "We won't rest until we resolve everything we can for the community".
