Carragher Thinks Arsenal Are Still The Top Club In North London

Tottenham Hotspur were beaten 2-0 by Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Despite Mauricio Pochettino's side finishing second in the league last season and three places above Arsenal, Carragher doesn't believe Tottenham are now the bigger side of the two.

The Gunners entered this past weekend's Premier League encounter as the bookies' outsiders but proved their doubters wrong as Shkodran Mustafi and Alexis Sanchez handed the hosts the vital win.

Spurs have established themselves as one of the strongest teams in the league over the last few years, but according to Carragher, Arsenal are still a more attractive prospect than their old foes.

Bellerin does, however, admit Arsene Wenger's men need to be much more consistent if they are to challenge for silverware.

The former England defender also criticised Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher feels Tottenham whiz Dele Alli is escaping scrutiny over his form.

The Argentinian is yet to win a major trophy as a manager, but did end Spurs' unwanted record of 22 consecutive finishes below Arsenal last season.

"What I did see was Arsenal fans giving the player a standing ovation in appreciation of a wonderful performance by an extremely gifted footballer - and about time".

Tottenham just have the edge and will finish above Arsenal this season, but a power shift, no.

'It has to be five or six seasons where you finish above your rival.

Our win this weekend closed the gap between fourth and seventh to only one point, with Tottenham, Liverpool and Burnley joining us now in the battle for the European places, although many of us will still be hoping to join the race for the title, which now looks like Manchester City's to lose.
