Coins valued Rs 790, needles removed from youth's body — Madhya Pradesh

Surgeons found 5kg of metal in his stomach, including 263 coins, razor blades, a chain, four large needles and a piece of rusted iron shackle. As Per Reports 32-year-old Mohammed Maqsood, from Sohaval in Satna district, developed a habit of swallowing metals out of depression and his family wasn't aware of it.

The 35-year-old had kept his freaky eating habits to himself, but surgeons found 263 coins, 100 nails and dozens of razor blades. The doctors initially thought that the patient was suffering from food poisoning as he complained of acute pain but they were very taken aback when they found out iron chunks in his body. Khan has worked as a three-wheeled rickshaw driver and used to swallow coins his customers gave to him, the doctors said, adding that he had promised not to indulge his freakish cravings again.

"We have removed 263 coins of Rs two, Rs five and Rs 10 denominations, as well as nails and broken iron chains from the stomach of the youth following a surgery", a member of the team of doctors who conducted the surgery said. He had been complaining of stomach pains for three months.

"We were shocked to discover that coins, nails and nut-bolts in his stomach. We come across such a case for the first time in our career", said Dr Priyank Sharma, who led the surgical team, which removed a total of seven kilograms of assorted junk.

Khan's family think he began to eat metal objects after developing depression, but said he did not inform anyone of his freaky eating habits. The good part is that none of his internal organs are damaged due to this freaky behaviour.

Khan has told the doctors that he will never swallow metal again.
