Congress summons Gujarat party Chief to Delhi

Congress summons Gujarat party Chief to Delhi

Nov.20 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Monday said the Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leaders, who were working as agents of Congress, have been exposed following their clash over ticket distribution.

Tuesday being the last day for filing nominations for the phase-1, Congress went into huddle to address the demands of the Patidars. "They have agreed to give Patidars reservations", said Patel.

Sibal said that the Congress was happy that a new front would fight against the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Gujarat assembly polls on December 9 and 14.

He didn't openly come out and urge Patidars to vote for the Congress.

"They are just trying to fool people, and these boys, who are moving around on the funds of the Congress, will not be able to fool the people of Gujarat", he said. "We are neutral and do not support any political party - only people who work for us", he said. "So directly or indirectly, there will be support for the Congress", Hardik said at a press conference in Ahmedabad. He alleged the BJP was participating in "horse-trading" as it fears it will be defeated.

There's no conflict within PAAS either, he added. In the previous list released by the Congress on Sunday night, two PAAS members were given the ticket and now after alterations, 4 more have made it to the list, making the total number of PAAS members to six. "We had not demanded any seats, but we had asked the Congress to put up candidates of our community, who have a strong character", he said.

On quotas, Hardik said he never opposed or sought benefits extended to scheduled castes or tribes or other backward classes.

A draft proposal for reservation to Patels has been prepared after consultation between PAAS and the Congress; the formula will not be confined to Patels alone, he said. Patel had earlier set a condition that he would support the Congress+ in the Assembly polls, due next month, only if the party committed to reservation in education and government jobs for his community.

Hardik also said that he has not joined the Congress, but asked his supporters to vote against the BJP in the Gujarat Assembly elections.
