Ed Westwick's upcoming drama series has been cancelled by BBC

Ed Westwick's upcoming drama series has been cancelled by BBC

Two women have come forward this week to accuse former Gossip Girl actor Ed Westwick of rape. Though the network acknowledges that he's not yet been convicted of these crimes, they still feel the best course of action is to not air the miniseries, which is based on Agatha Christie's novel.

The three-part Ordeal By Innocence stars Bill Nighy and was set to anchor the BBC's holiday programming.

Ordeal by Innocence was due to begin on Boxing Day, but the BBC said in a statement that it would not be shown while Westwick was under investigation by police in Los Angeles.

The statement added that Westwick has taken time out from filming the BBC Two series, White Gold as well.

A BBC spokesman said: 'These are serious allegations which Ed Westwick has strenuously denied.

The production company behind that series has announced that filming has been halted while Westwick deals with the allegations.

Wynn, whose stage name was Aurelie Marie Cao, alleged in a Facebook post that Westwick sexually assaulted her in July 2014 while she was visiting the actor's rented home.

Westwick has denied all of the accusations made towards him.

"I have absolutely not, and am cooperating with the authorities so that they can clear my name as soon as possible".

"I told him to stop, but he was strong", she wrote.

He said earlier this week: "I do not know this woman". "I said "no" and he pushed me face down and was powerless under his weight", she wrote. "I certainly have never committed rape".

"I was paralysed, terrified". 'Without you I would not have had the strength to speak up publicly about my ordeal'.

Others around her advised her not to say anything "and that no-one would believe me and think I was just out trying to get my 10 seconds of fame". "He held me down and raped me".
