Facebook brings support for collaborative Stories to Events & Groups

According to TechCrunch, Facebook will kill off the Messenger Day brand, and merge the feature with Facebook Stories.

Facebook first swiped the Snapchat feature with Instagram Stories, giving users on that service a way to publish content that is contained in an area accessible via a bubble. You'll be able to post a Story to either Messenger or Facebook and your Facebook friends and the people you chat with on Messenger will be able to see that Story. If you open them in one app, they are marked as viewed in the other app. Initially, they could only view the Stories.

As reported by TechCrunch, this feature comes as Facebook looks to draw more users to its Stories platforms.

All of this might sound confusing, but thats because it is. In fact, Instagram is already testing a feature that lets users cross-post their Instagram Stories to Facebook Stories - and with Facebook Stories now syncing with Messenger, your day can now be shared across all of your social networks. Now, the count is down to three, which is still three too many. "For a lot of people, the most meaningful things that they do on Facebook on a daily basis are [centered] around a group they're in or an event they're attending or maybe even a page that they manage or follow".

Facebook is also working on shutting off its Facebook Direct feature for the personal brief texting. All replies from Stories (via Facebook and via Messenger), and Facebook Camera messages will be sent through Messenger instead.

They'll be able to post while inside Events and Groups, or get the option to share there on the Facebook Stories share sheet. However, Stories from those spots won't be available in Messenger. This feature would allow people to jointly contribute to one single story for any event, under the supervision of the event's admin.

As it continues to try to grow its Snapchat competitor, Facebook today announced that it is launching support for Stories in Groups and Events.
