Fernando Torres Wants Premier League Return

In his last few Premier League seasons, Fernando Torres became a bit of a punchline.

The publication report Torres is keen on a return to England, with Newcastle and Southampton both interested in acquiring his services.

The Spain global, who has made 110 appearances for his country, has struggled for regular games for his country this season.

Torres has been limited to two sole appearances this season - one in the league and one in the cup.

With Diego Costa available for selection from January onwards, once Atleti's transfer ban is lifted, Torres will be facing more competition for starting berths in Diego Simeone's team and he now believes a return to the Premier League could provide him with the ideal opportunity to gain regular game time in one of Europe's top leagues.

The reports claim the former Liverpool striker is set to leave Atletico Madrid on loan in the new year.

However, a lack of game-time at present has made him open to a January move, according to the Daily Mirror.

He is hopeful that either side will make a worthy offer which will convince the La Liga side to allow him a return to England.

Torres has 18 months left on his current deal, and he wants to spend the rest of his career with his hometown club.

But he is eager to play as much as possible for the remainder of this campaign, and could join up again with Benitez.
