Jim Beam Smart Decanter Pours A Shot On Command

Jim Beam Smart Decanter Pours A Shot On Command

While it's entirely possible that this whole thing is just a marketing stunt, Jim Beam has actually sold real products for the express goal of mocking tech companies before.

In fact, that's pretty much all Jim does. There's no smart Alexa assistant or abilities to order pizza and taxis through voice commands; you can try but you'll simply get a whiskey-based quip from recordings taken of Jim Bean's master distiller Fred Noe. According to the company, Jim is a limited edition device that is priced at $35 and will be available for purchase via Jim Beam's website. That said, there's also nothing stopping you from filling it up with a better whiskey, should you prefer to drink something that actually tastes, you know, good. Ask it what the weather is like-a staple feature of other personal assistants-and it'll find a way to reference alcohol: "I have no idea, but I do know it's the ideal weather to enjoy bourbon".

More news: And firm is FINALLY testing a 'regram' button and GIF feature

Following in the footsteps of last year's Jim Beam Apple Watch, the smart decanter, named Jim, has been "engineered with more than 200 years of Bourbon know-how". Without saying another cringeworthy one-liner, Jim will dispense the ideal shot into a glass sitting underneath its spout.

The hitch: JIM's 3G capabilities will expire after about six months. Sadly, it appears this party gimmick, and admittedly decent holiday joke gift, already sold out during the presale. As AdWeek points out, the company sold wearable Jim Beam Apple-branded shot glasses previous year to make fun of the Apple Watch.
