Jurvetson is on leave from Tesla and SpaceX boards after harassment claims

Steve Jurvetson, a founding partner of one of the best-known venture capital firms in Silicon Valley and a board member of Tesla and SpaceX, is leaving the firm after it began a sexual harassment investigation, the firm told investors on Tuesday.

The Information first reported last month that DFJ - an acronym that stands for Draper Fisher Jurvetson - had been investigating Jurvetson for sexual misconduct since the summer.

DFJ announced Jurvetson's departure in a letter to the firm's limited partners today, according to Recode.

Jurvetson sits on the boards of Tesla and SpaceX.

In October, a female entrepreneur Keri Kukral wrote on Facebook that "women approached by founding partners of Draper Fisher Jurvetson should be careful".

In a tweet on Monday afternoon, Jurvetson wrote that he would be pursuing "legal action", but he did not respond to Ars' query as to when or where such action would be taking place. An entrepreneur had alleged predatory behavior was "rampant" at DFJ. Silencing behaviour ranges from security w/in the firm creating files on women, to potential violations of revenge porn laws, to threats.

Kukral's post prompted a response from DFJ partner Heidi Roizen, who wrote on her personal blog that the firm had never received an official complaint of harassment or misconduct.

A spokeswoman for DFJ did not immediately return a request for comment. We felt the responsible thing to do was to launch an independent investigation, and so we did.

I don't need an investigation to state with certainty that this is patently wrong.

Over the past few months, many women have come forward to voice their experiences and complaints of sexual harassment and sexism in Silicon Valley, Hollywood, politics and almost every other industry after the bombshell catalogue of allegations against producer Harvey Weinstein. "Including me", Roizen wrote.
