Kashmir encounter: Teenager injured as locals attack army convoy

Four militants have been killed and three civilians injured in an ongoing operation in central Kashmir's Budgam on Thursday.

SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) - At least three militants were killed Thursday in a fierce gunfight in restive Indian-controlled Kashmir, defense officials said.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Futlipora in Pakherpora area, 45 kms from here, following information about presence of militants in the area, an Army official said. A police official said the identity of the militants is being ascertained.

Meanwhile, another encounter is presently underway between security forces and militants in Sopore town of north Kashmir's Baramulla district.

A teenager was injured when a mob clashed with the army in Pakherpora Chowk.

Sinar Ahmad, 15 was injured when the army resorted to aerial firing after the mob attack on the convoy.

The mobile internet service in parts of Budgam has been snapped.

The report said two youths have also sustained injuries in the encounter that took place at Fultipora village.
