Lashing out at news media, Trump brings up Joe Scarborough conspiracy theory

In the wake of Wednesday's firing of Matt Lauer, the longtime co-anchor of NBC's flagship morning program The Today Show, President Trump wasted no time going for the kill against the left-wing network, including the revival of what the president described as an "unsolved mystery" involving MSNBC's Joe Scarborough.

Trump apparently was referring to Lori Klausutis, a 28-year-old intern who was found dead in Scarborough's office in 2001 when he was a Florida congressman. Scarborough announced his resignation months prior to her death, just five months into his fourth term, saying he wanted to spend more time with his children.

Despite that, the death has been touted as a conspiracy theory against Scarborough since he left Congress and became a popular television personality on MSNBC.

Joe Scarborough brushed off the tweet, saying of Trump "He is not well".

"So now tha (sic) Matt Lauer is gone when will the Fake News practitioners at NBC be terminating the contract of Phil Griffin?"

After news of Lauer's termination over alleged "inappropriate sexual behavior" broke, Trump hurled an unsubstantiated attack at NBC and parent company Comcast for "putting out so much Fake News".

Klausutis was found dead in Scarborough's district office.

But the "unsolved mystery" Trump alluded to has been solved for years. The medical examiner did not find signs of foul play.

The ME ruled the death of Lori Klausutis in 2001 was caused by heart problems that led her to fatally hit her head on a desk after losing consciousness.

Trump retweeted these three videos from Jayda Fransen, the deputy leader of the fair-right nationalist Britain First.

George Scarborough, who is not involved in the media world, said that Trump's tweet put a "huge emotional drain" on his family.

This is the second time Trump has bashed Scarborough, once accused of being a Trump lapdog, since becoming president.

"Looks like I picked a good day to stop responding to Trump's freakish tweets", Scarborough wrote.
