McLaren sets gold standard in Dubai

Bruce McLaren's quote "Life is measured in achievement, not in years alone" is emblazoned on the rear spoiler of the vehicle in Arabic, stylised to resemble the Dubai skyline.

Another exclusive addition to the vehicle is the bespoke graphics on the rear spoiler: a stylised arabic phrase meant to resemble the Dubai skyline. Short of taking a hacksaw to the auto itself, there isn't much MSO can't do to customise or personalise a vehicle, and it works with some of the world's wealthiest buyers.

The new owner of the MSO Bespoke McLaren 720S on display at the 2017 Dubai International Motor Show will take delivery of the vehicle from McLaren Dubai when the show finishes. Making its official debut at the Dubai Motor Show, this McLaren 720S was commissioned as a bespoke creation.

It's another one-off, finished in satin Zenith Black paint with a bucket-load of gold accents. Exterior upgrades replace the front splitter, air intakes, rear bumper and roof with carbonfibre units. The rear diffuser is also a carbon fibre option, while the door mirror arms, rear aero bridge and deck and engine covers are all from the MSO Defined range of carbon fibre components. The MSO Bespoke team added satin gold-painted extended gearshift paddles, a satin gold-coloured centre band to the steering wheel and pinstriping in the same hue to the spokes. The decoration took 30 hours to complete, using specially-made stencils. McLaren says that the rear wing took 30 hours to paint and finish, while the entire vehicle took 120 hours more than usual to produce thanks to its one of a kind look.

McLaren says achievement was a key theme behind the commission, both for the British luxury carmaker itself and the United Arab Emirates and Gulf states themselves, which form a key client and shareholder base for the company.

The 720S remains unchanged under the skin, but we doubt the buyer will be left wanting for power - the car's 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine produces a mammoth 710bhp, with 0-60mph taking well under three seconds. "This auto pays tribute to that".
