Mozilla Brings Competition to Google Chrome With New Firefox Quantum Browser

Mozilla Brings Competition to Google Chrome With New Firefox Quantum Browser

Two months back, Mozilla announced details about their next major update for Firefox web browser named Firefox Quantum.

"You should feel good about using Firefox because it contributes to Mozilla which contributes to a healthy internet", said.

Firefox Quantum will now be having Google as its default search engine across the USA and Canada.

Firefox was one of the fastest growing Internet browsers in the late 2000s.

Speed is the big message that Mozilla is pushing with Firefox Quantum.

Mozilla Firefox Quantum is available now for Windows, Mac and Linux platforms.

Firefox includes pop-up blocking, tab-browsing, integrated Google search, simplified privacy controls, a streamlined browser window that shows you more of the page than any other browser and a number of additional features that work with you to help you get the most out of your time online. To take advantage of its syncing features that ensure you can access your Firefox browsing history and other preferences on its iOS and Android apps, as you do with your Google account, you'll need a Firefox Account.

Mozilla says they have doubled Firefox's speed since past year. Mozilla sees the internet as a public resource, and just like recycling helps the environment, using a browser developed by a non-profit helps the free internet.

What are your views on Firefox Quantum? Even if that's getting too technical for you, this is what matters: Stylo is created to take better advantage of hardware and for low power consumption.

It's twice as fast as Firefox from six months ago, or at least Mozilla claims, and when we tested it out we noticed significant improvements under the new Photon UI, including when switching between large numbers of open tabs. It also uses less memory than competing browsers with a fresh new UI in place.

A new CSS engine called Stylo.

"To create Photon, our user research team studied how people browsed the web", wrote Mozilla's Mark Mayo. We looked at real world hardware to make Firefox look great on any display, and we made sure that Firefox looks and works like Firefox regardless of the device you're using. If you use Quantum on a Windows PC with a touch display, the menus change size based on whether you click with a mouse or touch with a finger.
