Rep. Joe Barton Apologizes for Sending Junk Pics And Sexting Woman

The 68 year-old Republican from Ennis says each relationship was consensual and has since ended.

The Texas Tribune reported that the photo has provoked speculation about Barton's future in Congress.

Barton, the vice chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, said he had sexual relationships with "other mature adult women" while separated from his second wife before their 2015 divorce.

The image was posted along with a screenshot of a text message purportedly sent to the woman with whom Barton had a relationship.

The photo, posted anonymously on at least one website on Monday, has been making the rounds on Twitter, mainly through an anonymous account purporting to belong to a "100 percent Trump supporter". "Right now" and a couple other words that I'll let you Google for yourself.

Barton also hinted that he is reconsidering a reelection bid, but has not come to any decision.

The apology comes amid a wave of sexual harassment allegations on Capitol Hill, in media and in entertainment.
