Roy Hodgson denies Crystal Palace Jack Wilshere link

However, Southgate questioned how the 34-time worldwide was being used by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

Ever since he became a part of the Arsenal first-team, Jack Wilshere has played for the England national team. Omitted from the squad for tonight's England game against Germany, the playmaker "is desperate to play for Arsenal".

Not only did the Arsenal midfielder not make the original squad, but with the slew of injuries that swept through the squad, Southgate opted against bringing Wilshere into the fold.

Wilshere, 25, has not started a single Premier League game for Arsenal this season, and his contract with the Gunners will expire in little over six months.

Adams added: "We bought Ozil and these players".

Hodgson believes Wilshere "has the creative quality his side needs to climb out of the bottom three in the Premier League", and he's also cautiously optimistic that the prospect of playing regularly at Selhurst Park could persuade the 25-year-old to give it a go.

"Jack played as a number 10 all of last season on loan at Bournemouth", Southgate said.

"Players that are coming in, he's already talked about players playing out of position at their clubs and fitting into this team, Jack Wilshere was one of those". But good luck to Jack, I think he is an outstanding player and I have got nothing but respect for him. I am happy with where I am, playing-wise.

"I like him very much, but why his name should be being talked about for Crystal Palace, I don't know". When we have played with a 10, we have had Dele [Alli] and [Adam] Lallana, but we are not playing with a 10 tomorrow.

"We need him both internationally and for the Arsenal".
