Schalke Confirms Interest in Reuniting One Day With Arsenal's Mesut Ozil

Yet the head of Schalke's supervisory board, Clemens Tonnies, insists that he still has a good relationship with the Arsenal man and isn't against a reunion.

There is little doubt remaining in the footballing world that talented midfielder Mesut Ozil will still be an Arsenal player by the end of next summer, but the Germany worldwide may not be making the expected move to the Gunners' Premier League rivals Manchester United after all.

Speaking to Kicker, Tonnies said of the Gunners playmaker: 'I can imagine a return quite well. We would definitely consider [a return].

He added: "I am certain that no deal will take place during the course of this season". But while he has been a joy to watch on the field, off it, things haven't exactly been hunky dory. They haven't rejected the offer, haven't acknowledged it arrived, nothing.

As per widespread reports, Ozil is being pursued by a number of top clubs across Europe, who are looking to pounce on his uncertain situation at Arsenal.

MESUT OZIL has been lined up for an emotional return to his hometown club Schalke.

Yet for all the success on the pitch this season, Schalke still have a lot of work to do off it, with key players Max Meyer and Leon Goretzka's contracts due to expire next summer.

Reds boss Jose Mourinho has been heavily linked with a move for the Gunners star, who will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season unless he pens a new deal. Should they be unable to do so, we might just see them make a move for their former player next summer.
