The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Review for Nintendo Switch

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Review for Nintendo Switch

The unique design that allows games to play it in separate modes i.e connected to a TV via the included dock, on a tabletop and in handheld mode, make the Switch an instant fan favourite, especially for people who owned earlier Nintendo products such as the 3DS. Motion controls have also been put in, though this isn't quite as good an addition.

Should You Get Skyrim on the Switch or Not?

Multiple races with individual perks, a seemingly limitless skill system, tons of in-game factions to explore, and so much more makes Skyrim the kind of game you can play over and over in different ways for years.

In order to get your hands on the Zelda items you'll need to break out your Zelda amiibo and scan it - but the option for this is a bit hidden away and is easily missed. This is far from the best that Skyrim has looked or run. The PC version is very well known for its mod support and while players have added in items like the Master Sword before, this is the first time it has been available officially in Skyrim. Of course, this also means players won't suffer the microtransaction heavy Bethesda Creation Club, but the lack of content is unfortunate. The Switch port is better than I even hoped it would be, making Skyrim one more unbelievably fantastic game in Nintendo's incredible first year of titles for their new console. That should impress nearly anyone, as this is a fairly new console and it is far less powerful than its contemporaries. You're getting the base game, along with the slew of DLC expansions the game received after its initial launch.

Be sure to check back with Twinfinite for more information on Skyrim on Switch.

More news: Senate GOP intent on scrapping health mandate in tax bill

Game Digital, the company behind the eponymous high-street video games outlet brand and its online incarnation, has announced a £10 million loss for its last financial year, blaming a 'challenging market'. There's something to that joke, as nearly anyone who has even a passing interest in the game likely has purchased it somewhere else, and for far less than the full $60 that Bethesda is charging this time around.

Graphically, the game also looks great. If the iOS ecosystem was one that Apple had fostered into a platform where publishers like Bethesda could feel confident selling $60 games on, it'd perform even better on faster iPads. The unique gameplay mechanics that allow you to propel your vehicle at designated points on the map, ram into your opponents to destroy their cars and powerups that increase/decrease the ball speed make for a rather interesting experience. There's nostalgia for one, and a sense of familiarity that is a big draw for many. It's Skyrim...for Nintendo Switch.

Skyrim is finally arriving on the Nintendo Switch, and with it comes a cool new addition to the land of Tamriel - special chests containing items from The Legend of Zelda, a special collaboration between Skyrim on Switch and Breath of the Wild, the absolutely unbelievable Zelda entry that launched alongside the Switch.

Whether or not Skyrim on Switch is a must-have for you comes down to how you prefer to play your Switch. That depends on how much you value access to mods. But this is still an unbelievable achievement and shows the power of the Switch for AAA gaming, even if it's a six year old title.
