Trump sarcastically responds to Kim Jong Un insults

While in Vietnam, US President Donald Trump said that he would not rule out the possibility of a future friendship between himself and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

"An attack by the USA on North Korea's strategic nuclear capabilities, which they deem essential to the regime's survival, would most likely be viewed as an existential threat and generate a corresponding response", he wrote.

On Saturday, North Korea criticized his Asia trip saying, "Reckless remarks by an old lunatic like Trump will never scare us or stop our advance".

Trump has called Kim "rocket man" and Kim has called Trump a "mentally deranged US dotard", a "gangster fond of playing with fire", and "a frightened dog".

The US President fired off half a dozen messages ahead of his official welcoming ceremony in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi, which he is visiting as part of his Asia tour.

Trump's Asian tour has not been welcomed by the North Koreans, who view his visit to the region as a diplomatic effort to garner enough support to attack North Korea.

Mr Trump responded with a passive aggressive tweet, suggesting he would never call Mr Kim was "short and fat", and complaining: "Oh well, I try so hard to be his friend - and maybe someday that will happen!"

"Odd things happen in life", Trump said. There always playing politics - bad for our country.

In a series of tweets he also said Chinese President Xi Jinping was "upping sanctions" on North Korea in response to its nuclear and missile programs and that Xi wanted Pyongyang to "denuclearize".

Kelly said the White House staff prepared Trump for the trip in more traditional ways: "We did the staff work, got him ready to go, and then at each place we brief him up on whatever the next event is and all that", he said.

When he raised concerns over China's increasing military capability in the South China Sea, Mr Duterte said Mr Xi replied, "No, it's nothing".

Earlier in the week, Kim called Trump "a lunatic old man", according to the North Korean government. They do see eye to eye, ' he told reporters.

Speaking to reporters on Air Force One while flying to Hanoi on Saturday, Trump said he believed Vladimir Putin was being honest when he denied meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

"He also said the US has "two or three channels" in which they can send messages to Kim and receive them back". "The president wants to build upon that to really build our relations with Asean".
