Ubisoft Makes A Statement On Vivendi's Recent Comments Of The Ubisoft Takeover

In its latest quarterly filings Vivendi affirms that it will not keep purchasing Ubisoft shares to trigger a formal acquisition bid for the company. Vivendi doesn't now have a plan to sell off any of the Ubisoft shares it's managed to acquire, and it's making a good deal of money with Ubisoft's holiday releases, like South Park: The Fractured But Whole and Assassin's Creed Origins.

Sounds like Ubisoft won't be letting their guard down during the next few months.

Vivendi said on November 16 that it does not intend in the next six months to make a takeover offer for Ubisoft, the video-games publisher in which it is the largest shareholder. Experts say that Vivendi could expect to pay as much as $6 billion to acquire Ubisoft. With Ubisoft already generating Vivendi plenty of money, Vivendi is allowing their shares to appreciate in value. This is because Vivendi is trying to buy Ubisoft and Ubisoft thinks this is a hostile takeover they do not want and would prefer to remain in control of the company they now have.

Vivendi did note it will continue to "develop in this sector" with possible purchases later on, and said that Ubisoft investment could very well be worth over one billion pounds - hence making the deal quite lucrative to them. "To this end, Vivendi will ensure that its interest in Ubisoft will not exceed the threshold of 30% through the doubling of its voting rights." .

Vivendi made a statement yesterday announcing that it won't attempt to takeover Ubisoft any time in the immediate future. The group chaired by Vincent Bolloré will not seek representation on the gaming group's board "in view of the opposition expressed by Ubisoft's executive management".
