Wizards' Wall out with swollen knee

Losing Wall for significant time would be a devastating blow to the Wizards' chances at contending for an Eastern Conference title, considering he is their leader and floor general.

DeRozan averaged 26.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists and shot 57 per cent from the field in Toronto's season-high four-game winning streak.

A fluid buildup has been lingering for about a week. It is impossible fully to replace a player like Wall, but if his injury causes him to miss time the Wizards also will need to lock down defensively and control the boards if they want to compete with elite National Basketball Association teams.

While Wall suffered a shoulder injury earlier in the season, he has been durable in recent years, playing all 82 games in 2013-14, 79 games in 2014-15, 77 games in 2015-16 and 78 games in 2016-17. If Wall does in fact suit up, Tim Frazier, who finished with six points, eight rebounds and eight assists in 36 minutes Sunday, would likely slide back into a lower-minute bench role.
