YouTube Adds Ticketing and Concert Dates to Artists Video Pages

YouTube and Ticketmaster are joining forces to make it even easier to snag tickets to shows of your favorite touring artists!

Starting from today, YouTube will surface USA tour dates for "hundreds of artists" directly below their videos.

This added integration will include information about the nearest show as well as upcoming tour dates. It has future plans to expand the feature worldwide. The show closest to your location will be listed first regardless of date, with others following it. Clicking the "Tickets" button will take you to a site where you can purchase your seats. The experience works on both web and mobile. After all, not all artists use Ticketmaster.

For now, the partnership only covers gigs in the United States, although YouTube says it plans to expand it globally in the future.

The move comes at a time when Spotify is running away with the streaming market, and specifically has been working to improve its platform for artists with things like a data dashboard and native app for updating artists' profiles, playlists, and checking their stats.

However, Ticketmaster's deal is not exclusive to YouTube - the company previous year integrated with Spotify for ticket sales as well. This new feature will only be available for an artist's official music video. "YouTube's massive fan base paired with Ticketmaster's global roster of concerts and security of verified tickets means we can easily connect a fan's discovery of music on YouTube to their ability to purchase concert tickets".

Music videos consistently are among the most popular content on YouTube, which boasts more than 1.5 billion monthly visitors. It's quite likely this will also apply to music videos with claimed ownership by artists and labels long before most modern YouTube content rules were in place. It can be found underneath a music video's description on desktop or right under the video in the mobile app.
