Android 8.0 Oreo update now rolling out to the OnePlus 5

Notable aspect of the Android Oreo is the Rescue Party feature, which helps device to recover from constant bootloops and also additional enhancement in security via Google Play Protect that checks suspicious activities and malwares in application. Many of them were asking about the face unlock which was present in OnePlus 5T and the founder, Carl Pei tweeted that OnePlus gives the feature as a Christmas Gift to all its OnePlus 5 users. Now, OnePlus has started rolling out the OxygenOS 5.0 OTA update for the OnePlus 5 smartphone. The company had earlier denied offering this feature as the front facing fingerprint sensor already offers a great user experience.

After the OnePlus 5T, we can expect to see the OnePlus 6 launch in 2018. OnePlus has done well when it comes to software updates for the 3/3T and seems to continue the same with the 5. According to the changelog, the optimizations are made to the Shelf feature which works same as the Google Now on Pixel launcher. A new "Place" tab for viewing photos on a map has been added too, along with new history and alarm calendar features for the Calculator and Clock, respectively. The camera app has a new UI design along with optimizations for photo quality in the OxygenOS 5.0. Talking about the camera app, it got a new user interface, and the company added beauty mode for the Portrait Mode. Heeding to that demand, OnePlus has made a decision to treat the OnePlus 5 users with Face Unlock feature.
