Astronauts make, fling, float, eat pizzas on space station

At present the batch is on a commercial supply ship and pulled out the flatbread, tomato sauce, cheese, pepperoni, olives, olive oil, anchovy paste and pesto in order to celebrate the first ever cosmic pizza party with much grandeur and zeal.

Paolo Nespoli, an Italian astronaut and Europe's oldest space explorer (he's 60-years old), thanked his on team members on Earth for sending his crew pizza ingredients after he "casually mentioned" that he missed pizza.

Astronauts at the International Space Station posted pictures and a video during the weekend of their small, made-from-scratch pizza pies. Nespoli, in orbit since July, declared the pizza "unexpectedly delicious". London, New York and California alongside unbelievable natural landscapes across our Earth are seen from 250 miles above in Space.

In the footage published on Twitter, the astronauts can be seen sticking the ingredients on before spinning them as they float around the cabin.

Once assembled, the pizzas were tossed and twirled like floating frisbees before the crew heated and ate them.

When eating at the International Space Station (ISS), you have a lot of limited options.

Commander of the ISS Randy Bresnik said the crew "had a blast channelling our inner chef by building tasty pizzas for movie night".

Not the first time Italian astronaut prepares in the conditions of weightlessness.
