Bradley Beal drops career-high 51 points against Portland

Bradley Beal drops career-high 51 points against Portland

Before jumping on either side of this National Basketball Association showdown, you'll want to see what SportsLine senior analyst Larry Hartstein is picking. Despite their third highest scoring game of the season and 49 bench points on Saturday, the Blazers allowed New Orleans to shoot 52% from the field and gave up 15 3-pointers in a 123-116 loss to the Pelicans. He really has his pulse in games involving the Blazers lately too; he's on an incredible 17-5 streak (77.3 percent).

Portland (13-10), known for being an offensive machine, has turned the tables this season. With Portland employing one of the NBA's slower tempos and best defenses, expect this game to stay under.

Portland still sports one of the most dynamic guard tandems in the league. Westbrook finished with 14 assists and 13 rebounds. He has played in two games on a minutes limit, but that restriction likely ends Tuesday. They still enter tonight's game fourth in the Western Conference at 13-10, but they know they need to protect their home floor to be a playoff team this season.

Washington's troubles started before Wall went down. There are times teams can use a game like what transpired on Monday night as a wake up call, which hopefully will result in a fired up Wizards squad tonight in Portland.

NOTES: Washington G John Wall (knee) missed his sixth straight game.

The Wizards were humiliated, embarrassed and everything in between in the blowout loss at the Jazz. With Beal struggling his last few games, Washington is without a go-to scorer and now it faces a team that is among the best in the National Basketball Association at guarding the 3-point line. The Trail Blazers are 0-2-2 in their last four home games.

Hartstein has released a strong pick against-the-spread for Tuesday's game. The man on a red-hot streak on Blazers games has locked in his selection. To say the contest was never in doubt would be an understatement as the Wizards fell behind early, finding themselves trailing by 34 at half-time.

The Wizards visit the Suns on Thursday.
