Caitlyn Frisina returns to Florida as soccer coach awaits court hearing

A Florida teenager who was reported missing and suspected to have been with her 27-year-old soccer coach has been found safe almost 1,000 miles away in NY. "We are so thankful to have her back". ABC News reports the Columbia County Sheriff's Office said Rodriguez had family in Canada and possibly Pennsylvania. "I am grateful for the unbelievable detective work by Detective Dube and his colleagues for their initiative and creativity that allowed this family to be reunited".

"He said I can't believe I put not just my child, but other people's children in this kind of environment", Scarlet Frisina says. On Friday, police spotted Rodriguez's 2001 red Mercury Sable which the pair fled in and pulled the vehicle over, according to Columbia County Sheriff's Office. Late Friday night, New York State Police said he had been charged as a fugitive of justice, KNEB reported. "We're looking forward to a lot more time together and being able to get back home and move forward as a family", said Scarlet Frisina.

He will be held at a local jail in NY until Monday, when authorities are expected to rule whether he will be extradited back to Florida.

Frisina's friend told police that the teen had cold feet about trip but didn't know how to handle it. Rodriguez has been working as a boys' soccer coach at Fort White High School, but he has been suspended pending the investigation, according to a statement from Lex Carswell, superintendent of Columbia County Schools. According to an online roster, published by Next College Student Athlete, Frisina played soccer at the school.

Caitlyn's dad Ward Frisina expressed his thanks to law enforcement and the community Sunday for their part in bringing his daughter home.
