Conyers' son was arrested for earlier this year for allegedly attacking girlfriend

This discovery could sway Conyers' decision to run for his father's seat in Congress.

Some of his songs included lyrics like, "My n***as turn grams into grands" and "Ay f**k making a living bro, I'm trying to make history/So picture me letting the news nit-pick at me".

The girlfriend said in the paperwork that Conyers III became violent when he went through her computer and suspected her of cheating. The argument allegedly escalated into physical violence. she told cops John body slammed her on her bed and on the floor, pinned her down and spit on her.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office cited a "lack of independent witnesses", according to NBC, but concluded that it "could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the victim's injury was not accidentally sustained" while he was disarming her.

The only injury to Conyers' girlfriend was a small stab wound to her lower bicep, the network reported.

The junior Conyers rebutted her statement saying the girlfriend, who wasn't named in the complaint, was using alcohol and marijuana, and tried to throw him out of the residence. Instead, she said, Conyers took the knife and swung it at her, slashing her arm.

Both Conyers III and the woman called police. He said she threatened him with the knife and was cut in a struggle for it.

The congressman's son was taken into custody and then released instead of having to pay the $50,000 bail.

"It's very unfortunate to see him fight for so long and for so many people, and to have the allegations assumed true", Conyers III told WXYZ last month about the claims against his father. The 88-year-old endorsed his son, political neophyte John Conyers III.

Conyers Jr.is expected to be replaced either by his son, Conyers III., or by his great-nephew, state Sen. Ian Conyers, whose grandfather is Rep. Conyers' brother, has already announced his plans to run for the seat. His Facebook page indicates he attended New York University and Morehouse College in Atlanta and identifies him as managing partner at EIA Alpha Partners Fund Management, based in Detroit. The agency didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

Conyers III is credited with writing a handful of articles for the Huffington Post with a bio that says he spends time between Detroit and Los Angeles.
