Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin discuss how to resolve situation in North Korea

"Look at the markets, how they've risen".

"I'm not the one to evaluate the President's work. That needs to be done by the voters, the American people", Mr Putin said.

"We see some quite serious achievements, even in this short period of time that he's been working", Putin said. "That shows investors' confidence in the American economy, it shows they believe in what President Trump is doing in this area".

Meanwhile, Twitter slammed Trump for making the call to Putin amid the ongoing probes and strained tensions with Russian Federation and thanking him for his praise.

Trump later told reporters on Friday that his phone call with Putin was "great", noting that the Russian president "said very nice things about what I've done for this country in terms of the economy".

Beyond those concerns, it's also somewhat awkward politically for the president to be seen requesting help from Putin, given the ongoing investigation into Russian interference in the USA presidential election and the Trump campaign's alleged collusion.

Putin also dismissed the idea that there was collusion or inappropriate contact between Moscow and the Trump campaign as "spy hysteria".

Exploration should take place with "care for (local) nature", he said.

Answering a question from celebrity TV host Ksenia Sobchak, who wants to challenge him in the election, Putin said he doesn't fear the opposition - but did not mention by name opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who has declared his intention to run but is barred from entering the campaign by an embezzlement conviction he claims is politically motivated.

"The primary point was to talk about North Korea, because we would love to have his help on North Korea".

UN studies have said most of Pyongyang's workers toil in China and Russian Federation under a system that forces them to send most of their earnings back to the government in North Korea, which the United States maintains uses the cash to help fund the country's nuclear and ballistic missile programs.

Mr Trump has repeatedly said all options remain on the table.
