Huawei's sub-brand Honor has announced the launch of the latest Honor 9 Lite.

Honor 9 Lite will compete with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 5, LGQ6, Gionee A1 Lite, etc., in the mid-range smartphone category. The release date of the new device, whose name indicates that it is actually a watered down version of the Honor 9, was also covered by us. The smartphone is powered by company's in-house HiSilicon Kirin 659 processor, which is present in Honor 9i, Huawei Enjoy 7s and Honor 7X among others. The device runs on EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo. The device is available with two different variants, 3GB RAM with 32GB of Internal Storage capacity and 4GB RAM with 64GB of Internal Storage capacity. The back of the phone is made up of glass like its predecessor and has the same dual camera setup as the front. The rear camera offers PDAF autofocus, apart from LED flash, in addition. There is a fingerprint sensor at the back panel and on the connectivity front, it supports 4G VoLTE, dual-SIM, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, dual-SIM and micro USB port. Sensors on board include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, magnetometer (digital compass), and proximity sensor. The phone has a 3000 mAh of non-removable battery. The phone as a fair share of resembling in terms of design with other Honor smartphones.

The variant with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage carries a CNY1,199 ($182) price tag, while the one with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage costs CNY1,499 ($227).
