Manchester United will miss Paul Pogba in derby, says Fernandinho

Graeme Souness has laid into Paul Pogba after his performance in Manchester United 2-1 win against CSKA Moscow last night.

City lead Jose Mourinho's men by eight points at present.

Former Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has lavished Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba with praise.

He can join the defensive side of Manchester United's game but he can also help the forward players because of his legs and passing ability so he makes them an bad lot of a bigger threat.

"This isn't me being an ex-Liverpool player caning a Man Utd player".

"Manchester City against Manchester United has always been a big, big derby".

It was hardly ideal preparation for one of the most intense fixtures in their schedule but Fernandinho thinks the loss could be just the jolt the City team needed to stave off any complacency.

"It's going to be a big atmosphere in the stadium and a big game with a big team and big players, so that's the game you want to play".

Wow. Considering the season Pogba has had so far, both in the Premier League and in Europe, Souness' comments are a bit unfair.

Pogba might be the powerhouse of United's midfield (especially going forward, linking the midfield with attack, and orchestrating most United's offensive moves), but his lack of the necessary defensive qualities as a central midfielder can be a problem to any side.

"Paul, you can see that there was and - now I can speak because he's back - but you can clearly see Manchester United this season before Paul injury and after Paul injury".

"We need to [attack]", he added.

Sunday's derby game will present the likes of Ander Herrera, Delay Blind and young Scott McTominay the chance to prove their worth if selected by the manager, which can also influence the game positively for United, as we saw with Rashford.

"They are first for good reason because they have been doing great".

"So if you have to choose a moment to lose then this would be the right one".

"The team is in a good moment, we won two hard away games so we have confidence and we know we play an important game".
