McDonald's Unveils $1 $2 $3 Dollar Menu

Early next month, the fast food giant will be out with $1, $2 and $3 items in its battle to win US diners who expect such deals. In October, it attributed a rise in a key sale figure during the third quarter to its $1 sodas and a two-for-$5 promotion called McPick 2.

McDonald's $1 $2 $3 Dollar Menu is the latest in the company's evolving value proposition for budget-minded customers. It was then replaced by "Dollar Menu and More" but had higher prices, and failed to attract more customers despite heavy marketing.

McDonald's Corp had discontinued its popular Dollar Menu in 2013 after the franchisees saw that selling a food item like a cheeseburger for just one dollar set back the profits. According to reports by St.Louis Post Dispatch the fast food chain has taken the decision to compete with deals brought in by competitors like Yum Brands Inc.'s Taco Bell to Dunkin' Brands Group Inc. The lineup, set to go live on January 4, includes items such as chicken tenders, sodas, triple cheeseburgers and the Egg McMuffin.

The company said that all of the value meals are created to safeguard franchisee margins. Elaborating on the same, he said, Bob Goldin remarked on the contrary, saying, "They are really killing it with dollar beverages and the McPick 2,","The strategy is not without risks, and that rising food and labor costs could squeeze franchisees who bear the brunt of such cost increases". "Subway, which made a huge splash a few years ago with its "$5 foot-long" special, is now offering a variety of six-inch sandwiches for $2.99 each.
