Meghan Markle and Prince Harry set wedding date

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry set wedding date

May 19, 2018, will be the day that Prince Harry and his fiancée, Meghan Markle, will be married at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.

The date breaks with tradition as royal weddings usually take place on a weekday - the Queen Wednesday on a Thursday and the Duke of Cambridge on a Friday.

Prince Harry's older brother, William, the Duke of Cambridge, who is President of the Football Association, usually attends the match and presents the trophy.

Prince Harry and his fiancee previously said they wanted the public to feel a part of the celebrations.

Regarding a potential clash with the cup final, a spokesman added: "We are aware of it and haven't announced times yet".

It is not yet known if the ceremony will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Harry and Markle first met for a drink in July 2016 on a blind date, brokered by a mutual friend, whose name they would not reveal, but "it was definitely a setup", Markle said in the interview.

The couple announced their engagement November 27, The Associated Press reported.

Markle is to be baptized in the Church of England before the wedding, and has said she will acquire British citizenship.

"It was so sweet and natural and very romantic".

Kensington Palace, the official Twitter account of the royal family, posted the announcement Friday morning. He got on one knee. "As a matter of fact, I could barely let you finish proposing".

Prince Harry and fiancee Meghan Markle visit a World Aids Day charity fair in Nottingham on Dec 1.

Harry's grandmother Queen Elizabeth II and other royals are expected to attend the wedding, along with Markle's parents, Thomas Markle and Doria Ragland.
