Microsoft releases "Microsoft Whiteboard Preview" app for Windows 10

Microsoft releases

While working together, you can keep up with the changes that other users are making in real-time, whether they're adding images, diagrams, or sticky notes.

You don't have to be a Surface Hub user to get the whiteboard experience.

According to Microsoft, the Microsoft Whiteboard Preview is now rolling out to all English versions of Windows 10, with additional languages to come in the months ahead (Note: the app isn't live at the time of writing, but should be on the Microsoft Store shortly). After some time in the oven with private beta testers, Microsoft has announced Whiteboard is now available in public preview.

Intelligent ink recognizes your freeform drawings and turns them into standard shapes, so it's easy to create great-looking tables, diagrams, and flowcharts. A gesture-based interface allows users to move to different areas of a board, collect images into a stack or turn the app's virtual ruler to a desired angle.

This app automatically saves your boards, so you can pick up where you left off or share links to your boards, so others can build on top of your work.

The app is now available to download from Microsoft store and you can check the official demo video and features list below. Anyone can use the app, but the collaborative multi-party support will require someone in the group to have an active Office 365 subscription. To use the app, which is free, one participant in a collaborative session must have an Office 365 personal, work or school account.

Microsoft is rolling this test app out to English Windows 10 editions today, with plans to support additional languages in the coming months. Microsoft showed off Whiteboard earlier this year, promising a release for its Surface devices by the end of this year.
