Mohammed Sheikh burnt alive over alleged 'love jihad', video goes viral

Internet services in the Rajsamand district were suspended to stop circulation of the horrific video, fearing a communal clash. The video went viral when the police were conducting their investigations. The video is too fearful to be shown.In the video, the culprit kills the man with an agricultural equipment, then pours kerosene on his body and sets it aflame.

The accused, who is has been identified as Shambhu Nath Raigar, was arrested soon afterwards.

The murdered man, Afrajul, was reportedly a labourer from West Bengal. The incident took place on Dev heritage road in Rajnagar area of Rajsamand district. The accused was also seen next to the burning body making threats on "love jihad". After killing Sheikh, Raigar made another video where he talks to the camera. But Shambulal Regar, then attacks him repeatedly with a weapon, and screams for help are heard as the video gets increasingly hard to watch.

State home minister Gulabchand Kataria condemned the incident and said that the investigation has been handed over to SIT for further investigation.

A barbaric act came to light on Thursday when a labourer was burnt to death by a man in Rajsamand district in Rajasthan.

Meanwhile, Afrazul is seen pleading with his murderer and crying for help while the accused keeps clobbering him with an axe and later burns him alive. The senior police officials found a badly disfigured body when reached the location.

Raigar has been sent for interrogation in the matter, Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar said, adding the victim has been identified as Mohammed Bhatta Sheikh.

The term "Love Jihad" has been used by right-wing groups accusing Muslim men of feigning interest in non-Muslim women and converting them to Islam.
