The Walking Dead star's dad reacts to son's 'firing'

Warning: spoilers for The Walking Dead below!

Distracting The Saviors so that his fellow survivors in Alexandria could escape an attack, Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) let his guard down for a split second, leading to him being the victim of a zombie bite after months of battling them and becoming a fully-fledged hero in the undead apocalypse.

Another original TWD character, Morgan Jones - played by Lennie James - will also be leaving by the end of season eight as he makes a move over to Fear the Walking Dead. This resulted in having Carl get bitten, which has even more of an impact on Rick since he's become "this really humanitarian figure and person who could see the good in people and see that people can change and not everyone out there is bad".

Andrew told Entertainment Weekly: "I didn't know what to do. But we do absolutely know how lucky we have been to be a part of it all and appreciate all the love from fans all these years".

The Walking Dead returns for the rest of season eight on February 25, 2018.

William Riggs gets plus-10 Dad points, but minus-10 points for his managerial skills.

Teenage Carl Grimes, played by Chandler Riggs, was found to have been bitten by a zombie in the final minutes of the episode, meaning his character will die and Riggs, 18, will leave the top-rated series he has been a part of since its debut in 2005. Or, you know, Rick blowing his head off.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Riggs revealed he and his family were told he was getting the axe by showrunner Scott Gimple just a few weeks before he filmed his death scene. "It made sense story-wise for it to happen for Rick and Michonne and all the other characters". "I'm just focused on the fact that Carl right now is alive and he has some business to attend to".

"That is a one-way ticket, but I'd like to think that the things that we see in the next episode are so important to his life and the other characters' lives".
