Top US gossip editor accused of sexual misconduct

Publisher of titles such as the National Enquirer and US Weekly, the company engaged a consultant in 2012 to probe Howard's conduct and the allegations that he "openly described his sexual partners in the newsroom, discussed female employees' sex lives and forced women to watch or listen to pornographic material", according to the story by Jake Pearson and Jeff Horwitz.

Dylan Howard, a top editor at the National Enquirer, has been accused of sexual misconduct.

A lawyer for American Media confirmed Tuesday that an outside investigator was hired to look into two employees' claims about Howard's behavior. Howard quit his position with the media conglomerate, but was rehired by the company the following year, given an upgraded title and relocated to the NY office.

The alleged Facebook-vagina page, according to the AP, rests on seven sources, one of them on the record.

"The behavior that Dylan displayed and the way he was and the way the company dealt with it - I just think that it has to be made public because it's completely unacceptable", said Maxine "Max" Page, a former senior editor at RadarOnline. Howard also talked about his sex life and even provided descriptions about his partners, Page and other employees said.

The accusations initially led to an internal investigation into Howard's behavior in 2012. He was rehired a year later and moved to the NY office.

AP is not aware of any sexual harassment allegations involving Howard since he was rehired.

In another instance, a former editor recalled how Howard encouraged an employee to have sex with people for information. Howard explained he was seeking the information as part of due diligence before entering into a business relationship with Weinstein.

The lawyer, Cam Stracher, said the investigation did not show serious wrongdoing. "I did have recommendations and I don't know what happened after those recommendations were made", he said.

Liz Crokin, a former reporter, claimed Howard once asked her if she was "going to be walking the streets tonight", because she had heels on at work that day, the AP reported.

American Media said in a statement that Howard "has the full support of AMI and its executives".
