TVS Motor enters super-premium segment, launches Apache RR 310

AM: Mr. K N Radhakrishnan - President and CEO, TVS Motor Company, joins the stage to adress the launch proceedings. The entry-level sportbike is created to serve multiple purposes for the commuters including touring and occasional tracking.

TVS claims that the decades-long racing experience of TVS Racing has been used to develop the Apache RR 310 while the pilot tests have been conducted with real users whose feedback on the development and performance of bike were satisfying.

As BMW Motorrad's manufacturing partner in India, TVS is responsible for the G 310 R (RM26,900) as well as the G 310 GS (RM29,900), Motorrad's entry into the sub-500 cc category for naked sports and adventure bikes, respectively. And that fairing isn't really a cosmetic add-on, but has been developed with a lot of thought, and research. This allows for enhanced stiffness in straights, and flex for dynamic cornering capability, which according to TVS leads to best-in-class riding dynamics. The motorcycle boasts of a top speed of 160 kmph, and acceleration from 0-to-60 kmph in just 2.9 seconds, thanks to an advanced aerodynamics package that promises the lowest coefficient of drag in this segment. And that's more than the small BMW. The bike looks stunning in person and these images don't do justice to the bike. The TVS Apache RR 310 will be the first bike in the Sport segment. In fact, it looks nearly like a full-size sportbike, rather than a single-cylinder "entry-level" performance bike. The other notable features are scorpion like tail lamps, twin projector headlamps, tall windscreen, monoshock rear suspension, split grab rails, and multi-adjustable clip-ons.

In the domestic market, the motorcycle will compete with Mahindra Mojo, Bajaj Dominar, KTM 390 Duke, KTM RC 390 and the Benelli 302 R. The Apache RR 310 will be available in two shades - red and matte black.

The new Apache RR Cup will be held across the world including countries in LATAM, MEast, Africa, SE Asia's and India. Yes, it does look that good!

The TVS Apache RR 310 is built on a race origin "Light weight Trellis Frame" along with two-arm aluminium die-cast swingarm, while the suspension is tuned by Kayaba.

Braking is handled by a 300 mm petal disc at the front, gripped by radial four-piston calipers from Bybre, (By Brembo) the Indian-built brand from the high-quality Brembo brand. The engine is lively, and pulls quite nicely with a decent top-end.

Powering the RR 310 is a 312.2cc, single-cylinder, DOHC motor that makes 34hp at 9,700rpm and 27.3Nm at 7,700rpm.
