UN house of lies - Netanyahu

UN house of lies - Netanyahu

"As the United Nations denies Israel's bonds with Jerusalem, Israel must sever Jerusalem's ties with the United Nations", said Oren, a former Israeli ambassador to the U.S.".

Deputy Minister Michael Oren of the Kulanu party urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday night to "evict the United Nations from Jerusalem" in response to the world body's passage of the UN General Assembly resolution rejecting U.S. President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

"The State of Israel flatly rejects this vote even before it is held", Netanyahu declared.

Netanyahu noted that various countries around the world are changing their attitude toward Israel, "and this will eventually seep into the walls of that house of lies".

As reported earlier today on JOL, the UN General Assembly approved a resolution by an overwhelming majority to reject the USA recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, with 128 member states voting in favor of the resolution and nine voting against.

The UN General Assembly is set to meet on Thursday for an emergency discussion on the unilateral American recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

Following Monday's USA veto of a UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution that called for the withdrawal of Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, the Palestinians initiated a vote on the same measure at the UN General Assembly later today. "Jerusalem is our capital".

"Jerusalem is our capital, we will continue to build in it and embassies of countries, led by the United States, will move to Jerusalem", Netanyahu said, thanking Trump and U.S. ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley for "standing by Israel and the truth".

Netanyahu, in his speech, thanked Trump and Haley for "their fearless and uncompromising stance". "Ultimately the truth will prevail".
