WhatsApp suffers another outage in less than a month

Popular messaging app WhatsApp said on Thursday that users around the world had been unable to access its service for a brief period, but that access for its 1 billion daily users had since resumed. "We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to fix the issue as soon as possible", a spokesperson for the app said, according to the publication. As per reports, Whatsapp outages reported across Asia, Europe, North and South America.

The outage was most acute in northern Europe and Brazil but lasted less than an hour, according to downdetector.com, which tracks disruptions across telecommunications services.

The app previously crashed on November 3.

The website showed that there were peak outages at around 6pm GMT, with messages not being sent of received, spurring users to take to Twitter to complain.

Users of WhatsApp were struggling to send texts after the web-based messaging service went down.

The Facebook-owned app tends to be quite reliable, not often suffering major outages but as the app is used by more than one billion people around the world but any problems can affect hundreds of millions of users.
