Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus launch tomorrow, price leaks

Xiaomi, which has become number one brand in smart phone, with a shipping of 9.2 million phone in the third quarter of 2017, on Wednesday launched Redmi 5A in the city. Similarly, the Redmi 5 Plus is said to cost $249.99 (approximately Rs. 16,120) for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage option, the listing says.

Both the smartphones will ship with MIUI 9 out of the box. Additionally, the company also promoted the launch of the Xiaomi Redmi 5, with a few video teasers. Both the phones will be made available in four colour variants - Black, Blue, Gold and Pink. The smartphones are being sold by Xiaomi Online Store but the seller's connection with Xiaomi is not be verified. The chipset will be Snapdragon 450 - a 14nm process unit with octa-core CPU and Adreno 506 GPU. The Xiaomi Redmi 5 will have 5.7-inch display while Redmi 5 Plus will support a larger 5.9-inch display. Running Android 7.1.1 Nougat-based MIUI 9, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will be backed up by a 4,000mAh battery.

While the next-gen Redmi smartphone is expected to come with a new design language and updated hardware, past reports suggests the cameras will not see a major bump.

As per earlier leaks, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus smartphone is said to feature a 5.9-inch full HD+ display with a possible 18:9 aspect ratio, and a Snapdragon 625 SoC or Snapdragon 630 SoC. The smartphone is expected to sport a dual rear camera setup, which could be a combination of a 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel cameras. It will possibly launch in two variants of 3GB RAM with 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage.

Like the Redmi 5, the Redmi 5 Plus is also expected to bear a 5-megapixel sensor up front with LED Flash and a 12-megapixel rear camera.
