10 man Leicester hold Chelsea to goalless draw

"We have to try to improve in this aspect, but the problem is not just for Morata, or [Michy] Batshuayi when he plays".

They are now level on points with second-placed Manchester United, who play Stoke City on Monday, while Claude Puel's side have 31 points and remain in eighth spot.

But Blues boss Antonio Conte had a different reason for his sides lack of determination against the Foxes. Compared to last season we are conceding less and showing more solidity.

According to the Italian, he could see Hazard was exhausted and thought adding some "fresh energy" would help his side win the game - but it didn't.

"I appreciate a lot this player because he is a really good player, Vardy".

The Blues are yet to win in 2018 and have played out three consecutive goalless draws, with club-record signing Alvaro Morata struggling in front of goal during English football's gruelling winter fixture list. Conte's position has come under increasing scrutiny at Stamford Bridge, with constant hints since the summer that he has not been happy with the transfer policy at Chelsea.

"But we haven't had great quality in our finishing. If you don't score, you're lucky the game finishes 0-0".

Conte also got stick for taking off Eden Hazard for the fourth successive game in which he's started, but the Italian defended his decision.

The Algeria global has been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool, but Puel said: "We can see he is enjoying his football, he is happy in playing, in training, he is happy with us and his team-mates".

While there have been no recent problems in terms of the defence - the clean sheets are still coming - it will surely be hard to continue with a three-at-the-back formation with Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger and Cesar Azpilicueta until Cahill is back.
