Alexis Sanchez would be 'major signing' for Manchester United, says Andy Cole

UNITED have reportedly won the race to sign Arsenal ace Alexis Sanchez - according to unconfirmed reports.

No player would say: "'Oh I hope he doesn't come.' Every one of us is playing really well right now and everyone has confidence", the German said. We don't believe in signing a player just to do something.

Sanchez nearly signed for City in August only for a deal to collapse at the last moment with Arsenal unable to persuade Thomas Lemar to join from Monaco. I don't know but, probably this weekend, he's going to defend Arsenal colours, so I don't think it's correct to say things about Alexis Sanchez.

French side Paris St-Germain have also been linked with Chile forward but Sanchez's preference is to join Manchester City.

"No, it doesn't worry me personally", the Germany global said in quotes reported by The Guardian.

Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho has shared his thoughts on the "phenomenal" player.

"They're going to win the league this year, they're in the Champions League, they look like they're going to be in the final of the League Cup, the FA Cup potentially - so he's got more opportunities to win trophies there. Maybe you ask Arsenal, they decide his future".

Neville pointed out the difference in the illustrious histories of United and City as he claimed that his former club had a lot more to offer than financial benefits.

The Chilean forward was set for a move to City, but it would seem that United have gone ahead of our rivals for the signature of the player, which would represent a huge statement of intent on our part.

Questioned as to whether there was any truth in the rumour, the Arsenal manager was coy. "So it makes you work harder", he said.

Guardiola would not be drawn on his interest in Sanchez at Friday's news conference before their trip to Liverpool on Sunday.

"I don't think any of the teams near the top - Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham and ourselves - are thinking they can spend money this January to close the gap".

"Mourinho, who said he was unlikely to buy anyone in January, recently bemoaned his club's inability to invest up to "£70 million" in new players, claiming Premier League leaders City have the advantage of unlimited spending power. "Of course, I want a quick resolution". They will look for mistakes from us and try to play counterattacks.
