Bioware's Anthem delayed until 2019

Bioware's Anthem delayed until 2019

The video below is BioWare's "Anthem" teaser shown during E3 2017.

Considering that last year's Mass Effect Andromeda was such a commercial and critical flop too, there's a huge amount of pressure on Bioware to deliver with Anthem.

Bioware now intends to redeem its reputation by announcing new titles that are likely to take the audience's breath away.

Bioware's much-anticipated action role-playing game, "Anthem", is being delayed to 2019, several months past the originally pegged third-quarter launch of the game.

The same report says that both of Bioware's Edmonton and Austin studios are exclusively focused on Anthem to ensure it reaches a March 2019 release date at the absolute latest.

The next "Dragon Age" game has reportedly been rebooted, as well, and even the new game for a franchise as big as that looks to be a secondary priority for BioWare now, as it focuses everything on "Anthem".

Fans of Bioware get their fix of single-player open-world storytelling through games like Mass Effect and Dragon Age, so it'll be interesting to see whether Hudson is referring to the standard fare of DLC and expansions, or whether we can expect some form of shared world experience in the vein of Anthem.

The new game is likely to develop story and characters. Exact dates remain in flux-and Anthem's developers must also plan for a beta release, an EA Access launch, and an ongoing schedule of patches and updates-but it appears unlikely to developers that publisher EA will allow BioWare to delay the game any further than March 2019, when the company's 2019 fiscal year comes to an end.

Either way, a reminder that a new Dragon Age game is being developed somewhere is always comforting to know.
