Bound plane strikes truck on Boston taxiway; no injuries

An Alaska Airlines plane bound for Portland, Oregon from Boston's Logan International Airport collided with a de-icing vehicle before takeoff Monday afternoon.

Alaska Airlines says it is investigating the cause of the crash. Passengers said it felt like the plane hit a speed bump or a piece of ice. "The beer is really good here, so that's an upside", he said.

Massport said there was no one inside the de-icing vehicle at the time.

Alaska Airlines issued a statement after the incident, according to the television station.

It did cause a significant delay for the flight, The plane was taken back to the gate to be checked, and an airline spokesperson said the left wing of the plane was damaged, WCVB reports. The incident happened on a taxiway as the plane was heading out for departure on its own power.

Alaska Airlines said the 166 passengers aboard the airplane were returned to the boarding gate.

The airline re-booked the passenger's flights and gave each of them a $300 food and lodging credit.
