Finally! Mourinho breaks silence over Man Utd Sanchez deal

Finally! Mourinho breaks silence over Man Utd Sanchez deal

Manchester City have decided not to pursue their interest in signing Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez.

"No news on Alexis Sanchez, he is an Arsenal player", he told the BBC.

"They are first so we always want to catch them, so it was good that they lost, so for us we have to think about ourselves".

However, Martin insists no talks have taken place between the two clubs and he expects the 20-year-old, who only recently signed a contract extension until 2021, to remain with Bordeaux beyond the end of the January transfer window.

There were also reports later that evening that Chelsea has now made a late attempt to hijack the signing and Mourinho, speaking after his team defeated relegation-threatened Stoke 3-0 at Old Trafford, admitted Sanchez had attracted attention from other clubs.

"Sanchez becomes quite cheap at £100m. if you think about Neymar at £200m and Philippe Coutinho at £140m, I get the point on the morals, but I'm not sure why City won't match them financially".

"Just relaxed, and with the feeling that he is an Arsenal player, with the feeling that he can stay there, but also with the feeling that he can move, and if he moves, I think we have a chance".

And there was speculation on Monday that Mourinho was prepared to let United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan move south to Arsenal in order to help get the deal done.

"Other big clubs are probably interested".

"I prefer to protect him and protect the situation and at the end of the transfer market, if he stays here, he is a very good player, one that started this season very, very well and come a bit down. Last season he did fantastic things for us and helped us to win the Europa League, being one of the most important players, so let's see what is going to happen".

The result leaves second-placed United 12 points behind leaders Manchester City who suffered their first league defeat this season in a thrilling 4-3 reverse at Liverpool on Sunday.

"In the second half, we played confidently and fast and aggressive and I liked the second half". "So it was good for them to lose".

"Is he going to be involved in leaving us?"

"I still don't believe they've pulled out".

"It's important for me to make assists and now we're winning I'm enjoying doing this much more and to score more goals would be great", he said.

"They're willing to put more into Walker than they are Sanchez". Like everybody we want to win the league. He saw the size of the task awaiting him as he looks to steer the club away from relegation trouble, with Stoke easily seen off by United in occasional hailstorms in northwest England.
