Fire breaks out at Bengaluru restaurant, 5 employees sleeping inside dead

Five persons were charred to death after a fire broke out in a bar-cum-restaurant in Kalasiplaya near KR Market in the early hours on Monday.

5 workers of the bar who were sleeping inside have died due to the fire.

The incident took place at Kailash bar and restaurant located at the ground floor of Kumbaara Sangha building. "Police rushed to spot and dispersed the crowd", said Selvakumar. According to sources, the bodies, which were retrieved from Kailash Bar, have been sent to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem.

Two fire engines and one fire rescue vehicle which were summoned to the scene managed to put out the fire before it spread to neighbouring buildings.

The cause of fire is not known, and an investigation is on, an unidentified senior police officer said.

Three of them, Swami, Prasad and Mahesh were natives of Tumkur, Manjunath was a native of Hassan and Keerthi was a native of Mandya.

The incident comes after a fire at a restaurant sparked a deadly blaze in Mumbai's Kamala Mills, killing 14 people on December 29.
